Yes You Really Can Take It With You! Part 2, the Extreme Bookcase

By Cynthia • January 31, 2012 • E-Verse Universe

This is as eco-friendly as it gets and you do indeed “take it with you” to the very end.   Bookcase while you are living then  able to converted to your coffin thus saving loved ones fuss and expense of  finding the right coffin.

Two versions:

First the more utilitarian version found on a wonderful site called www.lastthings.net, a DIY funeral resource that makes a  lot of sense in these days of inflated funeral costs

The Bookcase Coffin
This is the bookcase coffin.  It’s two seven-inch-deep boxes hinged together.  The shelves are adjustable.  When preparing it to be used as a coffin, the shelves are laid on the bottom of the coffin.bookcase coffin

If you think about it, this is not just a green way to go but a practical (if strange) strategy to spare your loved ones additional expenses after you die. Instead of sorting out which coffin to buy they can simply take apart your shelf system and construct it out of already-purchased parts.

While it is constructed of wood and designed by William Warren to weather and age with you, it might be a good idea to take care of this bookcase while you are still around since it will be traveling with you underground.
