The center of an X
is at all angles to itself.

The left is filled
with the passive past,

The top is one step
from the edge of nowhere.

The bottom has no choice
but to hold on.

The dead center
does not begin or end.

The right is unknown
and seething in excess.

    “Y”
    in homage to “X”

    It’s openness balances
    Upon strong placement.
    Welded to its craft
    Wishing to lean neither
    Left nor Right.
    Now in text-speak
    It becomes its own query
    Without the soft breath
of the “wh” to give truth a space
    for the anticipation of
    an answer.
