He enjoyed quite a few of these in Peru, though the raw whipped egg whites may have contributed to the mad fever dreams that afflicted him in La Ciudad Blanca (“The White City”), beneath the snow-capped volcano El Misti, where he dreamed he saw saints riding bicycles across the ceiling.
