Step aside Jim Morrison! Take a back seat, Bill Shatner!
I’ve been signed to a fledgling local record label called Pub Can Records to record an album of poems with musical backup. It sounds a bit corny, eh? Well, we’re aware of the various pitfalls a project like this might encounter, and we’re quite confident that we’ll pull together a really interesting album. My backing band consists at the moment of a drummer, keyboardist/guitarist/French Horn player, and bass player, though other musicians will be brought in as needed. The masterful young producer Dave Young will preside over the proceedings. The album will be released to coincide with my book Sixty Sonnets in the fall, and it includes recordings of sixteen sonnets from the collection. Here are some pics from the first studio session. More will be posted as we move forward on the project.
