I hosted a party with Garrick Davis for the Contemporary Poetry Review at the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan last Thursday, the opening night of the AWP conference.
Left to right, Jan Schreiber, Ernest Hilbert, Garrick Davis, and Dan Brown.

Left to right, Joshua Mehigan (not entirely pictured), Bill Coyle, David Yezzi, and George Green.

The photographer, Preston Merchant.

Marilyn Taylor flew in from Milwaukee.

Talia Neffson points gracefully at a poet who has hit the floor, the first of many that evening.

Hilbert finally gets to the punch-line, flanked by John Drexel and Garrick Davis.

Former contributor Devesh Patel (left) with Contemporary Poetry Review‘s assistant editor Jeremy Axelrod.

Dark Horse editor Gerry Cambridge, in from Scotland.

Cambridge plays a mean harmonica.

Garrick Davis slays the company with another joke. Note David Yezzi and Steven Renau in foreground at either edge of the photograph. John Drexel seems unamused, however.

Founding editor Garrick Davis with Steven Reneau, who generously provided the booze and room for the party.

A Saturday Night Live moment, Garrick Davis (left) with Ernest Hilbert on balcony at the Chelsea Hotel. More than one poet nearly fell over the wrought-iron balcony that night.

Ernest Hilbert shows off his cuff links, inlaid ivory images of Belepheron riding Pegasus to destroy the Chimera.

Ernest Hilbert finally gets Mr. Reneau, famed philanthropist and speech writer, to laugh.

Ernest Hilbert follows a brief speech with a toast.

Poet and critic Dan Brown.

Managing editor of Parnassus: Poetry in Review, Ben Downing.

Celebrated poet and critic, Alfred Corn.

Congratulations, espacially to the Founding Editor of Contemporary Poetry Review Garrick Davis (Professor)
Awesome guy, great person, maybe that is why he is shining like a brand new diamond. :)
