“Merry Old. . .”: Domo Visits England with Ernie and Lynn

Some scenes from a typical English wedding. A good friend of mine from Oxford tied the knot. Here I am with two other Oxford friends, Dan Mitchell (scientist, on my right) and Charlie Phillips (famous DJ on my left).
We left Domo in the room so he could catch up on his sleep.
The next night, I gave a reading in Stoke Newington. The lovely Katy Evans-Bush set up an evening of sonnets to celebrate the publication of my book Sixty Sonnets. The lineup of readers was quite daunting, including the likes of Roddy Lumsden and a variety of sharp younger poets.
This photo, the only one Lynn snapped of me reading, doesn’t do justice to the crowd, which numbered around 50 that night, believe it or not.
We took a boat ride from the Tate Modern to the Houses of Parlaiment the next day.
Lynn posed before a colossal robot while we shopped in Camden Market.
On the last night, Domo came out.
He was happy to see a Tesco Express on Trafalgar Square, where we stayed.
Domo, with the National Gallery in the background.
Lynn and Ernie scaled the slippery granite base of Nelson’s column to watch the drunken reveling teens careen through the warm night.
Say bye to London, Domo. Time to fly back to the states.

Mimi and I enjoyed looking at these photos, and the ones of Italy. I’m glad you brought Domo. Was it hard getting a passport for him? Kath
