“Squatterz” by Jakk Frost: You can’t buy these albums on iTunes or in stores (the few that still sell albums). I got my copies of his albums from a cab driver who got me home late at night from a party (and I was spiraling around the galaxy at that hour). I had seen the amateur video for this song on the local public access channel and asked him if he knew about it. It turns out he not only knew Jakk personally but told me that Jakk lived right around the corner from me. You could spot his “squatter” from window of my crappy walk-up apartment. This is a true Philly song in every way, and the video captures many fine Philadelphia sights such as “BALLBUSTERS” pool hall and the Purple Orchid strip club. It includes one of my favorite rhymes: “My Impala / Makes the young girls holla!”
