A message from the composer:
I wanted to let you know that monster pianist Andrew Russo will play a piece of mine, Toscanini’s Glasses, at Le Poisson Rogue on October 5. If you don’t know Andy, he’s brilliant; if you don’t know the record MIX TAPE (for which I wrote this piece), it’s really fantastic, featuring music by a lot of great composers like David Lang, Marc Mellits, and Evan Ziporyn; and if you don’t know Le Poisson Rouge, it is one heck of a cool place to hear music. TOSCANINI’S GLASSES is my own deconstruction of a famous 1970s tune, and the title is drawn from a short story by my friend Jonathan Lethem. The event starts at 7.30, doors open an hour prior, and all the relevant information (including where to go online to get your very own copy of MIX TAPE) can be found at the bottom of this email. Hope to see you all there!
